Peony Season

Peony Season in the Flower Garden: A Spring Journey

Peony season is already behind us and it always feels too short.

We finally had rain here in the South after a long stretch of drought, and I’ve been so grateful for every drop. This flower season, once again, reminds me how fleeting it all is. I can hardly believe we’re already heading into June.

As I walk through the garden, I’m soaking in every moment. If you’ve been here for a while, you know that we once grew a huge number of dahlias in raised beds, but as we grew, something shifted. My husband built the flower house, and now the garden is really taking shape.  It’s now full of pathways, perennials, and a creative flow that keeps unfolding.

I think that’s why I love flower gardening so much.  It’s not just about the blooms, but about how it transforms us, too. I often get asked why we grow so many flowers, and I think it’s because we’re simply drawn to creating a space for the birds, the bees, and just a little quiet in the world.

Here are a few photos from peony season in the flower garden.
