What’s Your Word of the Year?

Vintage Bucket of Dahlias

What is your word or phrase for 2022?

Every year I pick a word or phrase that reminds me of what I want to achieve for that year.

I don’t make a list of words and then narrow them down.

Instead, I start to think about the upcoming year and usually I will just hear a word and I go with that.

Last year it was North Star and I believe that phrase is my guiding light.

I almost didn’t pick a word this year because I feel so connected to following my North Star.

It sums up everything for me, however, I heard two words on my walk with Madison.

Expansion and Listen

I can understand why I heard expansion and lately I have been doing a lot of thinking when it comes to listening.

So much can be learned when we listen and it is a goal of mine to listen more this year when I’m with my family and friends.

If you picked a word or phrase for 2022 I would love for you to share it and why it means something to you.

We can all learn from each other and your words may inspire someone else!

Well, friends, the flower garden has seedlings coming up.

It’s a joy to watch them grow and I can’t wait to photograph all the blooms.

There will be new notecards, prints, and journals once we have spring flowers.

For now, you can find my print collection here from previous years!

Leaving you with a quote I adore

  • Hi Jane!
I really hadn’t given it a lot of thought! December 2021 was an extra busy month for me, with Christmas preparations and deciding to open a 2nd booth that month as well. So January, I have been in hibernation mode.
But reading your comments and “listening” to your voice, out of the blue my word popped into my head!
    Change!
I feel 2021 was all about preparing for change, both business wise and personally, and 2022 will be about implementing change!
You have always inspired me to stop, and take stock of where I am and where I am going.
    Thank you for that!

  • My word this year……… Light.
I want to be a light to others I am around.
In my Christian walk, and life in general. An encouraging light for others. I was late in life starting my business (62) so may I light the path for others.

  • I try to live by two virtues and they guide me everyday, they don’t change. Mine are community and efficiency. I started picking a word a few years ago to help narrow my focus for that particular year. This year my word is RISE. I want to rise above the noise, rise above the petty crap, rise above anyone who tries to bring me down. I want to rise in my job, rise as a life long learner and pretty much just rise as a better human every day. In my job, some people don’t get to rise out of bed, so i intent to do that every day too. Hopefully, i bring a few people along with me 🥰

  • Hi Jane,

The new year my word is LIVE! If 2021 and the few years before that taught me anything is you can survive things you don’t think you can, you can do more than you ever thought you could and to live without regret.

Made a few more trips to the house down south, got it cleared out and said a proper Goodbye and am mentally ready to close that chapter of my story.

So many plans for 2022 for flower and veggie gardens, regular exercise to keep my body and mind healthy and to just LIVE!!!

    Love and Hugs
    Kim
