Hi friends, can you believe it’s September?
We have the southern heat still and my flower garden is still blooming.
With thoughts of autumn approaching, I thought the Sunflowers Ruby Eclipse would make a pretty iPhone Wallpaper.
This year I planted from seed and next year I will be planting a few more varieties of sunflowers.
I love the happiness they bring to our farmland.
Styling and photographing these sunflowers was a joy.
With their velvety centers and soft buttery petals.
They’re show stoppers and simple styling was all that was needed.
The perfect flower for this season.
Slowly we feel the air begin to change and we lean towards the warm, rich colors of autumn.
I feel the heaviness of the year and yet I also feel the simple joys.
My hope with my photography is that it brings you a sense of calm.
Many of you are antique dealers, collectors, small business owners.
You understand the blessing of finding a sense of calm amidst the storm.

You may also enjoy the Jade Sunflower for next summer. Plant early and then enjoy in June, they would be fun for summer sessions. You can get seeds at Johnny Select.

My husband planted a mix of sunflowers to disguise the waning summer garden and to provide decor for our daughter’s backyard fall wedding. Such fun watching the birds sitting on the top side of the sunflower and hanging upside down to eat the seeds! And the bees would be so pollen-laden that they’d fall asleep on the flower! He orders his seed from Eden Brothers. Another fun flower to plant is Cosmos! He mixed those and zinnias with the sunflowers, too. It was beautiful!
