Fall Decorating with Pansies and Vintage Baskets
October is here, and this year I find myself drawn to the beautiful colors of pansies. A few vintage baskets filled with these sweet flowers is an easy way to add a little color to The Flower House during our busy fall.
As the flower garden has grown, so has my love for the work of gardening. I still love styling and photographing flowers, but I’m just as happy capturing the garden as it is. Sometimes, the simplest touches are all you need to create something beautiful.

Maybe that is part of what makes this little place so special to me. It’s always changing, and there is always something new to enjoy.

Every year, something catches my eye, and this year, I’m seeing pansies in a new way. I’ve always planted them in the fall and loved their beautiful colors, but this is the first time I’ve styled and photographed them.

I think we sometimes overlook the simplest things. A basket of pansies may not seem like much, but they’re just so cute to photograph.
I love the beautiful colors and soft petals that look like velvet.

And one of the nicest things about using flowers this way is that, when I’m ready for a change, the pansies can be planted right into the flower garden. Something that began as a simple bit of porch styling can continue growing and bringing color to the garden.

We had a very warm start to fall, but the temperatures are slowly changing. We haven’t had our first frost yet, though I’m sure it’s not far away.
As the seasons change, the garden begins to slow down, and so do I. After the demands of our Southern summer, I’m ready for the change of seasons.
Of course, there is still plenty to do! We have tulip bulbs arriving around Thanksgiving, along with a few peonies to plant.
Enjoy the beauty of fall🍂
