Waiting for Fall at The Flower House
September always makes me start thinking about fall, even when it’s still very hot here. Fall comes a bit later for us in the South, but I’m already thinking about styling the flower house.
I know many of you are already thinking about fall gardens and decorating, so I thought I’d share a few of these photographs again for a little inspiration.
One of my favorite things about fall decorating is using things that already have a little age to them.

You may have noticed the old baskets I use around The Flower House. I often hear from people who worry that I’m going to ruin them by leaving them outside. 😊

But when I’m shopping at flea markets, I actually look for baskets that are already weathered. Sometimes they’re a little broken in a spot you can’t see, or the bottom has seen better days. Those are often the ones I like best and you can usually get them for much less.
This way I don’t worry about putting them on the porch or filling them with flowers.
They’re already imperfect, so I can just enjoy them.

I think that’s what I love about decorating The Flower House. It doesn’t have to be perfect or new. Most of the things here have a little patina and a story of their own.
