Late June In The Flower Garden
One of my favorite things about summer mornings is the way the sun lights up The Flower House. I love how the shadows move across the weathered shutters.
While I’m enjoying every moment of these early mornings, late June also feels like a turning point in the flower garden.
The heat and humidity have settled in, and I’m reminded why we have slowly become a spring into early summer flower garden.

So much of flower gardening this time of year is simply showing up.
Watching the weather and trying to help the flowers stay happy through the long, hot days of summer.
If you follow along on Instagram, you’ve probably seen many of my sunrise stories lately.
Most mornings, I’m outside as the sun rises, tending to the garden while the birds are singing and the day is just beginning.

The summer season asks a lot from a flower gardener.
Not every flower makes it through the summer the way I hoped it would.
And yet, every morning I find myself back in the garden.
I think it’s because the garden gives back far more than flowers.

There is a peace here that is hard to explain.
My husband and I both feel it.
Even when the work is hard and the heat is relentless, there is something about walking among the flowers, listening to the birds, and watching the garden wake up that settles the soul.
That’s what keeps me showing up, day after day.
