How to take creative self portraits is easier than you think!

I recently shared on my Instagram Stories how I take pictures of myself for my website and social media.

Several of you messaged me saying that you had been trying to take your own photos.

With no such luck.

So I wanted to share my tips and how I keep it easy without over thinking it!

The first thing I do is wait for my light.

Waiting for the right light allows me to get a good out of camera photo before edits.

I then set up my space, tripod, and camera while deciding if I want landscape or portrait.

I shoot in manual so I take this time to set my focus and get my camera settings in place.

As a light and airy photographer I usually have my aperture set at f/3.5 – f/4.5

Always chasing a soft, dreamy style that I don’t stray from when I hop in the photo.

To keep things simple I set my focal point on the closest thing to the camera.

In this case the desk.

I set the timer and jump in the photo.

Usually looking off into the distance or down.

As a creative I love photos that evoke a feeling & the feeling of being apart of the scene instead of a true self-portrait.

In all honesty they’re not my favorite.

I hope keeping things easy inspires you to challenge yourself and instead of being intimated by your camera be curious!

Be You…Be creative…

Kindly, xo
