The Beauty of Reuse: My Vintage French Jar
If you’ve followed me for any length of time, chances are you’ve seen my vintage French jar in my photos. It’s one of my favorite vases and props. I purchased it years ago from a friend who sells antiques locally. It’s simple, beautiful, and versatile. Honestly, what’s not to love about a big old jar full of flowers?

I’ve always believed in reusing what we already have. Having been an antique dealer for years, I’ve collected more than my share of vintage vases and vessels. But just because you’ve used something before doesn’t mean it can’t be used again and again. Change the light. Switch the flowers. Add ribbon. Suddenly, that same vase tells a new visual story.
In a world where we’re constantly told to buy the next thing, the magic of antiquing is different. You’re not chasing a trend. You’re looking for something that speaks to you. Something that will still feel like you years later.

There’s this idea that we constantly need to reinvent ourselves or buy something, but I find the opposite to be true. Many of us are working from the same studios, flower gardens, or sunlit windows day after day. It’s not about changing the setting, but it’s about deepening your relationship with the things in it. Revisiting familiar pieces allows for consistency, for rhythm, and for growth in subtle but meaningful ways.

So the next time you feel the pressure to switch things up just for the sake of change, think about the things you already love. The sweater you reach for every winter, the calendar you look forward to hanging each January. You’d miss them if they suddenly disappeared. The same is true in creativity. If change is calling you, follow it. But if you love what you’re doing, keep doing it.
I’m sure someone will be grateful that you stayed true to the way you can create.
kindly, xo
