January Reflections: A Quiet Month in the Flower Garden

This is the one month I don’t actively tend to the flower garden and I’m grateful for the slower pace.

Cut Flower Garden. Flower Photographer with a handful of tulips from her garden.

That said, we did uncover a box of 100 tulip bulbs we missed planting—fingers crossed that we got them planted in time!  They’re a variety I’ve never grown so hopefully I’ll see them bloom!

Even in the stillness of winter, the garden hints at what’s to come. Several daffodils have already broken ground, promising the first signs of flower season.
I’m using this quiet time to explore new flower varieties, place orders for chrysanthemums, and stock up on seeds. This year, I’m excited to try several new colors of zinnias and some sunflowers I’ve never grown before.

How about you? What does January look like in your garden? Are you planning, dreaming, or simply enjoying a well-deserved rest?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Kindly, xo

Jane
