The Beauty of Growing and Drying Hydrangeas
Dried Hydrangeas
Hydrangeas are magical, especially when they go from fresh flowers to dried. One of my favorite varieties to grow and dry is the Pinky Winky hydrangea. I love the colors—from soft pinks to deeper hues—which make them beautiful in the garden and dried.
When it’s time to dry them, I either place the stems in water or hang them upside down in my flower house. Pinky Winky’s tend to hold their shape and color, adding a touch of rustic charm to any space.
The Endless Beauty of Hydrangeas in My Garden
Most of the dried hydrangeas in this photoshoot are pinky-winky. The greener blooms you see are Limelights, another favorite in our flower garden.
Over the years, we’ve been adding different hydrangea varieties to our garden, and I love how these perennials come back, stronger and more stunning with each season.
Hydrangeas and Vintage Baskets: A Perfect Pair
There’s something so charming about pairing dried hydrangeas with vintage baskets. The texture and character of the baskets perfectly complement the hydrangeas’ natural beauty.
A Favorite To Photograph
Hydrangeas are also one of my favorite flowers to photograph. I love their size, texture, and the way their colors come alive in a photo. If you love hydrangeas, you can see more hydrangea photos in my last post, “Capturing Summer In My Flower Garden.”
