The Story Of The Tulips

I’ve spent the last several days getting the flower beds ready for the next round of planting & looking over what tulips I planted and the ones that captured my heart!

While all the tulips are beautiful I definitely have my favorites.

It was a combination of what I liked in the flower garden and what I enjoyed photographing.

I planted all my tulips in silo rings I have among the flower beds.

It was the tulip’s height, bloom size, strength(during wind & rain), and beautiful color that mesmerized me.

A flower farmer and photographer’s dream!

Mount Tacoma

The Flower House, Ironstone Vase with Tulips, and an old garden sign

With some, I only planted a handful and with some like the Sweet Pink Mix and Mount Tacoma, I planted 500 hundred of each.

Lucky for me they were on sale and I purchased them wholesale.

I never got to enjoy Mount Tacoma because only a few came up out of 500 hundred!

To say I was disappointed was an understatement and I called the company to see if they could shed some light on what might have happened.

I wasn’t looking for a refund…we all know that gardening has its ups and downs and so many things can make or break a flower season.

However, I was greeted with the assurance that it was not me, our soil, or the weather, and in fact, it was something with the bulbs.

They gladly gave me credit!

Looking back over the season I feel grateful that I love tulips.

I never realized how much until I grew my own and grew varieties you don’t see in the stores

They’re easy to grow and are showstoppers in the flower garden.

My Top Picks For Tulips

Tulip Salmon and Pink Impression

The runner-up was the mix I planted and it included Pink Impression.

Tulip Unique Renown(beautiful in photos)

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with tulips!

All of these varieties are stunning and each one is unique.

Double blooms, color, fringed edges, ruffled, and height.

To my surprise I loved the mix I ordered because the colors together looked really pretty in the silo rings.

At first, I thought I would order the mix again, but I decided on Tulip Pink & Salmon Impression and Tulip Renown Unique.
