Vinyl Photography Backdrop & dried flowers, ribbon, scissors

Simply Styled Flat Lay

Using a vinyl backdrop for photography is inexpensive and easy to use.

A few weeks ago I reviewed a vinyl backdrop for all of you and it was the first time I had ever used a product like this for photography.

As someone with access to numerous authentic backdrops from my antique stash I still wanted to try one.

Mainly for my print collection and for ease.

What I have liked so far is that they don’t compete with my photo.

Charisma

This one is called Charisma by Ink & Elm.

You can see by their photo and mine…a significant difference.

My style is light and dreamy and often I lean more to overexposing(on purpose) for my style.

I don’t care for heavy contrast and I like things to feel slightly dreamy.

To be honest I could easily take/edit my photos in a different way to show the backdrop’s colors exactly as they are.

However, that would not be authentic to my style and thus I would rather show you the backdrop on their page and what I did with it.

Thankfully this is not a sponsored post and I have free creative control.

This is definitely a backdrop I would use for flat lays and my print collection.

I like the wee bit of texture and soft hue of pink.

I had mentioned antiques and y’all know how much I love them.

However sometimes in a flat lay patina can be busy in my opinion.

It is a beautiful dance to get the right amount of texture and patina.

Often times I see images and my eyes go to the backdrop inside of the styled props.

These definitely allow for props or products to stand out and they have an array of colors to choose from.

Keep in mind if you get close with your camera you can see that they’re not real.

Macro photography would work best with something real.

My favorite real backdrop is the floor in my barn photography studio.

I also mentioned in my previous post that this one arrived with some bubbles in it.

They replaced it without question and when this one arrived it was fine.

I would love to know if you use any vinyl backdrops and if so what company and color do you like?

It’s fun to have several options when it comes to styling a photo.

Kindly, xo

Jane
