Vinyl Flat Lay Backdrop

Curiosity got the best of me and over the holidays I purchased two vinyl backdrops from Ink & Elm

With so many antiques and beautiful old-timey floors in my photography studio…you may be wondering why I purchased a vinyl backdrop.

Well, I have admired photographers that use them for years…especially food photographers.

As I shared recently on Instagram Stories, it was the ease that I was looking for.

My photography style is light and dreamy and I have been in search of something for my print collection.

A backdrop that would fit my style and one with no lines.

As I was searching the web I watched a few reviews and settled on purchasing a backdrop that was inexpensive.

I wasn’t going to be doing macro photography…I have authentic pieces for that.

This was for flat lays, something in my color palette, and easy to store.

Many of you are beginners when it comes to photography and you’re shooting your product images for your online store.

Simplicity is your friend…you can find lots of options on what to use and how to position your camera for a flat lay.

As a beginner less equipment to spend your money on is a good thing!

That leads us back to these backdrops and why I like them.

I like that they can go on the floor and I can easily see into my camera at 3-4 ft above the flat lay.

I had mentioned that I purchased two.

The second one had a bubble in it and I emailed the company and received a quick response.

I sent them a photo and they apologized and sent me another one.

It’s a pretty light color and I will review that one in an upcoming post.

One thing I wanted to point out is that when I received the backdrops I was not sure I liked them until I styled them and took a photo.

I was pleased right away with the results!
