I finally tried Mod Podge!
You can’t peruse Pinterest without seeing pretty labels added to buckets or bottles.
So here is my first attempt at a simple DIY to add charm to an old seed tray.
I had a bunch of these old seed trays that I picked up at a Flea Market.
Each one was weathered and featured unique stamped markings.
I used them for photo props, stenciled a few, and sold them as is.
“Grown In Holland”
is stamped on the bottom of each tray.
There is something about original markings on something old.
Whether it is a stamp or old label…I love it.
So I wanted to create the look using mod podge and some vintage dairy labels.
Digging into my stash I decided on the Mansfield’s Evaporated Milk label.
I purchased these labels from Don and Chris’ Old Stuff
These dairy labels are all new old stock.
The Mansfield’s labels were found under the stairs of an old cannery that was being demolished.
They were still in a box, in mint condition.
The website gives you a brief description of the labels…where they were found and era.
This label is copyrighted 1912.
The process of adding the label to the seed tray is simple.
I applied the mod podge with a foam brush on the back of the dairy label.
Just a thin layer covering the label and a thin layer on the wood.
Simply press the label on and smooth out any bubbles.
I wanted the labels to look older so I sanded the outside and the bottom edges against the metal.
Using my “Christmas Tree Stencil” Ā to add the little “farm” on the side of the tray.
I
I ran my finger along the seam in the wood so that the label would crack giving it an old-timey feel.
An easy, inexpensive way to add a vintage charm.
Next, I want to try adding the labels to large dairy bottles.
I would love to hear what you have created with Mod Podge!
Have a great week š

thank you, Kellie š that means a lot to me!
You’re gonna want to mod podge everything now! Super cute, love how it turned out..I’ve mostly used it for applying floral napkins to wood & distressing, it’s been awhile, though, may need to try some labels! xo
i love the napkins on wood! I was thinking of trying that with a stenciled word over top…we’ll see š
thanks for visiting, xo
I love these Jane! The seed trays AND the labels are awesome finds. You have inspired me! Can’t wait to see what else you do with mod podge!!
