When Carole of Garden Up Green invited me to be a part of this tea cup challenge alongside some pretty awesome, creative gals…I couldn’t say no!
My mind swirled around with creative ideas, but I could not let go of the fact that I love succulents in vintage tea cups.
I think it is the delicate simplicity.
So I let myself do something simple, something I love.
After restocking my booth at The Depot at Gibson Mill I wandered around looking for inexpensive vintage tea cups.
I asked a friend and fellow vendor and she led me to a booth that had several…only $1 each!
Now the challenge in front of me was not in my creation, but rather finding succulents in the middle of winter.
A few stores had some long neglected fall leftovers…I don’t think anyone had watered or looked at them for quite some time.
I never thought that the toughest part of my challenge would be finding succulents!
The next part of my challenge was when I was taking photos.
The wind picked up and knocked over my backdrop breaking the bottom teacup you see above!
Luckily, I had a few backups!
This vintage tabletop garden is a simple, inexpensive DIY.
It will only take you a few minutes once you have your…
Supplies
tea cups
small rocks
soil
water
I first filled the bottom of the tea cups with a few small rocks for drainage.
Then I gave the succulents some fresh soil and water.
All I could think about was a vintage wedding…mixing and matching tea cups filled with succulents.
You could add names and have them as gifts to remember the special occasion.
The image I had for this challenge came to life when I hung the tea cup on our old antique goat gate.
You often see sap buckets filled with succulents hanging from a hook.
These will be the perfect backdrop for our booth as we head into the garden season and the arrival of spring.
I hope you enjoyed my version of a vintage tea cup garden 🙂
Now it’s time to grab your coffee and see what my friends have created for you
Kindly, xo

thank you, Barbara 🙂
Oh, how I love this! I planted a few succulents over the summer in a repurposed votive tray I found at the thrift store and they’re some of my favorite plants. I’d never considered how difficult it might be to find them in winter, but growing them has been a breeze – just as in summer. They’re so forgiving, which I love.
I love the variety of colors and heights you chose – so pretty!
thank you, Karen 🙂 I really need to get planting! time we all need more time
Jane, I absolutely love this! The tea cups are so delicate and pretty but the texture of the succulents is a little bit tougher. Great combination!
