A while ago I purchased two stencils from
At first I was all about the “Farmer’s Market” stencil. We have a Farmer’s Market in our small town and that stencil just seemed to speak to me. I quickly found myself making signs, embellishing old chicken feeders, galvanized buckets, wash tubs and wooden totes.
I would pass by the “Coffee” stencil…lovin it…but I could not figure out what I wanted to do with it.
Until…
My husband came home with a truck full of small industrial pallet tables. He’s the believer in me and figured I could do something with them.
Powering washing years of hard work, heavy loads and grease was the first step.
Each pallet table was unique once it made it through a heavy power wash.
For this pallet table I found that the patina was so becoming that I did not want to add any stain. I liked the way the wood showed its age with a natural distressed look.
I added a little WD 40 to a cloth and rubbed it over the metal sides and legs. If you’ve never used WD 40…you are missing out. It works wonders on metal!
Next up…stenciling
First I layered newspaper over the pallet table cutting out the middle for the stencil.
If you are going to use spray paint you need to protect your project from overspray. I tend to use spray paint for stenciling…truth be told I try to use what I have on hand.
Be patient…don’t lift the stencil right away…look to make sure the paint is not thick in spots and will run or smear if you move the stencil.
Stenciling is a test in patience so…
Walk your dog…get a snack…just don’t rush!
That’s it folks…it takes no time at all to turn an old greasy industrial pallet table into an adorable coffee table.
Don’t forget to wash your stencil after…like right away…you really don’t want your stencils to look like mine 🙂
