Vintage Tiered Metal Stand

While sipping on my morning coffee and watching it snow in North Carolina in late February, I was perusing Pinterest, pinning unique ways to organize.  I came across a couple of vintage tiered metal stands.

Loving the idea, I brainstormed and decided on two different tiered stands.

One for my office to keep everything in place…

the other for my flower garden.

I had a large assortment of vintage baking molds, tins and even an old shovel.

Never lacking stuff…

My only purchase to complete this project was an old spool for $3.50

Old spool for vintage tiered stand

The old spool spoke the history of North Carolina’s once thriving textile industry.  Vintage baking molds gave the stand the rustic feel I was looking for.

Wood glue was used to adhere the old spool to the vintage baking molds.  Wood glue is not a favorite of mine…I always use way too much and……seeping wood glue is not pretty!

I decided to leave the handle off of the stand I was going to use as my office organizer.  Leaving the handle off gives the top-tier a little more room.

Perfect organizer for any room

For the garden stand my husband cut the handle off of an old shovel.

He cut the little tin pans into four leaves which bent backwards to secure the molds to the shovel…   using black screws to fasten the handle to the molds.

I wanted a handle on this stand so I can hang it from a garden hook with the hope of trailing petunias.

I’m hopeful that the baking molds will be deep enough.

The beauty of this DIY… easy and inexpensive.

Vintage molds, tins, spools are plentiful at flea markets or antique stores.  Enjoy making it your own and I hope you share what you create!

Kindly,

Jane
