Christmas decorating with antiques brings back memories.

One of my favorite “look-forward-tos” during the year is decorating the house for Christmas.  Growing up on the west coast of Canada and on the edge of a temperate rainforest, I always remember the smell of fresh cedar bows filling the house as my mom handmade wreaths and swags.

I still can’t believe I need to buy greenery…my mom is back home with a forest behind the house and I’m frugally buying what I need.  The swag was the first thing that went up and our tree is ready to be decorated.

My head has been spinning decorating our booth’s for the Christmas holiday’s, shopping estate sales and looking at projects that line the garage.  I have passed by a stack of tobacco sticks at our cabin for the last two years and finally decided to do a few easy projects.

I decided on primitive ladders and stars.

Tobacco Stick Star

I made the stars in two sizes…the little ones are my fav.  My booth’s are primitive so I left the stars to shine with little or no embellishment.  The ladders make for great display pieces and would look cute in a bathroom.

Tobacco Stick Stars in hand, I headed to our booth for some Antique Christmas Decorating.

I weaved rustic Christmas decor throughout the antiques…

starting with mini Santa boots that are too cute nestled under the tree.

After coming home with nothing from a Saturday auction I found this gorgeous primitive wheelbarrow in pristine condition the next morning.  I knew this would be a great addition to our Antique Christmas decor.

Perfect for all the Christmas pillows

Anyone in this business will tell you the joy is in the hunt and for me I knew this primitive piece was a unique find.  I decided to focus my next blog post around this primitive wheelbarrow.

Armed with all my camera gear I headed to the booth to try to figure out how to take some blog worthy photos for my post.

I was thrilled…ok maybe a little sad…

What a unique beautiful piece…not only for Christmas…but also perfect in a garden with trailing spring flowers

Pardon the dark picture…it was the only one I had

I snap pictures each week after I organize the booth.  It is a way of keeping track of our inventory and to get ideas for my posts.

I have tear drop tin that makes up the walls…which I love…I just need to figure out my pictures for all of you that don’t live close enough to visit us in person.
